A consultation with a specialist gastroenterologist may be required to ensure that you are receiving the right diagnosis, care and ideal treatment for your needs.

During the initial consultation the gastroenterologist may ask you about your medical history, any medications you are taking, your health concerns and symptoms. They may also conduct a physical examination and suggest further investigations.

Follow-up or regular appointments may be advised for ongoing and complex issues.

For a specialist consultation appointment, we require a referral from your GP or referring specialist.

Note, not all patients require a consultation prior to a procedure, as your GP can refer you straight for an “open access” procedure. Please check with your GP if a consultation is required, or in certain clinical situations we may advise you that you need a consultation prior to a procedure.
